President's Report - March

As I write this, the wind is howling and scattered rainfall is coming in at a 30-degree angle, which makes all but the heartiest stay bundled inside to watch the last leg of the Tour of California.

The Board has decided to fund the annual feed at Brumby Road, where we had an excellent turn out for Ed’s renewal of the chowder ride, hosted by Rich and Diane Freggiaro.  Too, we will fund the party for the March Corned beef ride, hosted by Don and Roberta in Wallace, with Ed again as the chef and instigator.

All of this new expenditure comes at the price of cutting back on the hosted coffee rides.  We will only sponsor quarterly coffee rides as we progress through the rest of the year.

Upcoming dates:

Delta Century May 4th. We definitely need help to keep with our Delta Century on May 4th, riding on the Delta with three routes and 4 rest stops.  Our locations will be in Thornton, at New Hope School; Courtland at the Mokelumne High School campus; Clarksburg, at the Sugar Mill; and in Walnut Grove at the Jean Harvie Center.   Of course we will need other volunteers at Jessie’s Grove where we will feed the masses, post ride. Please notify Roselyn Wang at roselynwang@gmail.com, if you are willing to help.

Bike corral April 18-Stockton:  We will be helping at the Grand Opening for REI on April 18th by staffing a bike corral to encourage attendees to eschew motorized vehicles and ride a bike to the store.  I need another 3 or 4 volunteers. Contact me at pndbutler@comcast.net if you can help for 3-5 hours on the Saturday.

Ride Schedule:  If you have a club ride you want to do, send/call Roberta Hoffman and see if we can accommodate it onto the monthly ride schedule.

Other: I receive numerous emails from around the area asking to put out information about rides and tours onto our website.  I have resisted since there are already several web locations and the www.sbclub.org has several great resources under “links”.

Here’s wishing for great riding weather in the coming months.

Ride safe, ride strong.

Paul
